Fibre Cube is made from our Jute Tile material. In this design we literally show the material from its other side. Revealing its rough and unpolished character by the use of a plastering technique. The cube is completely handmade in our Rotterdam studio. It can be placed on every side and is hollow to minimize its weight. It’s available as a stool or side-table in custom sizes up to 50 cm. With the EggshellCeramic© Pre-Mix you can explore our innovative bio-material firsthand. This sustainable and versatile material air-dries to set, requiring no kiln or oven. Perfect for creating decorative pots, multiple samples, or unique creative projects of your choice.

To get started, you’ll need a scale, a measuring cup, spatula, bowl and a pan —then simply mix all ingredients from our pack, shape it, and let it dry. Complete instructions are included with your package to guide you through the process.

About:

A waste material from the flooring industry is used to create this new surface material. The material is made of 50% jute fibre. Jute fibre is the only waste material in the production process of Forbo linoleum. By combining it with plaster, the fluff is transformed into strong tiles with distinct patterns. The original properties of the plaster are changed by this addition. Giving this waste material a second life and new durable purpose. By using this waste material, Forbo linoleum becomes a zero-waste product.

With our Jute Tile collection we provide an alternative to ceramics, a sustainable replacement for traditional tiling. This tile is part of a closed-loop and waste-based system.

Material information:

The tiles are coated with an eco-friendly material, this makes it water repellent but not totally waterproof. Jute and plaster are both naturally mold and mildew resistant, making it applicable for several interior spaces. Plaster is endlessly recyclable.
